A deep dive
The small, super-quiet Home Health Box samples the air for potentially harmful gases, vapors, and particulates that may be impacting your health and comfort. It also logs data from sensors to watch how the air quality in your home changes throughout the day. After running continuously for a week in your home, we'll generate a custom Home Health Report with data-informed ways to improve the health of your living space.
What to expect
The Home Health Box is part of an ongoing study funded by the National Institutes of Health. If you decide to volunteer to participate, we'll issue a pre-programmed Home Health Box for you to take home.
- Follow the instructions to set up the device and get it running in your home.
- Watch for the LED lights, which will indicate that sampling has completed after 7 days.
- Repack the device in its shipping container.
- Ship or deliver the device back to our study coordinators.
- Receive your Home Health Report in 2 - 4 weeks.

Is the Home Health Box recording me?
No. We do not record any voice or video. This device is focused on capturing information about your environment.

Is the Home Health Box used for emergency alarms or alerts?
No. You must continue to use smoke and carbon monoxide alarms in your home according to your building code requirements. The Home Health box is presently a research tool and will not alarm if unsafe conditions arise in the home.

The LEDs indicate it has finished running. What next?
Great! Follow your return instructions to get the box back to us for analysis. The sooner we get the Home Health box back the sooner we can start analyzing data to generate your unique Home Health Report. Thanks for participating! You are helping make a difference.

Do I need to keep it plugged in?
Yes. After the device has started running we ask you keep it plugged in to avoid missing important events that may help us identify ways to improve the health of your indoor environment.

I can't hear anything. How do I know it is running?
The Home Health Box is very quiet. If you place your ear close to it you may hear a small whispering or white noise sound. You can rely on the LED lights on front face of the device to tell you it's on and working properly.
